Glamorgan Brewing Company, the largest independent brewer in Wales, has announced a new deal with Marks & Spencer, the UK's leading retailer, to supply its beers to M&S stores across Wales.
The deal, which was finalised in September 2023, will see four of Glamorgan Brewing Company's beers available in 32 M&S stores, including its flagship Welsh Lager, Welsh Pale Ale, 1888 and Bale. The brewery, which is based in Llantrisant, South Wales, was founded in 1994 and produces a range of beers and ciders inspired by local history and culture. The brewery's managing director, Richard Anstee, said he was delighted with the partnership and hoped it would introduce more people to Welsh beer. He said: "We are very proud to partner with Marks & Spencer, one of the most respected and trusted retailers in the UK, and to showcase our beers to their customers. We believe our beers are the perfect match for M&S, as they are brewed with Welsh water, Welsh hops, and Welsh pride. We look forward to working with M&S to promote Welsh beer and Welsh products to the world."
The deal with M&S is the latest in a series of achievements for Glamorgan Brewing Company, which has also become the official ale supplier of the Welsh Rugby Union and the official ale of Glamorgan Cricket in 2023. The brewery has also won several awards for its beers, including the Best Lager in Wales and the West Country for its Welsh Lager and the Best Beer in Wales and the Southwest for its Welsh Cake Stout in 2020. The brewery's head brewer, Jamie Jones, said he was proud of the quality and consistency of the products and thanked the customers for their support. He said: "We are very happy with the feedback and recognition that we have received for our beers, which are the result of years of hard work and passion. We are always looking for new ways to improve our beers and to create new flavours and styles that appeal to our customers. We thank our customers for their loyalty and enthusiasm, and we hope they will enjoy our beers in M&S stores as well as in pubs, clubs and bars across Wales and beyond."
